Client Brief
A swim spa was high on the agenda for this new garden design in Heronsgate. A beautiful backdrop, covered lounge area, pool decking and make this fit into their beautiful garden.
The project began with the decking to support the glass box garden room. Specialist pad stones had to be carefully constructed to provide supports for the structure. A decking frame to withstand the dead load weight of this project was carefully planned.
Managing Garden Drainage
To make space for the pool we excavated approximately 130 cubic metres of soil. We re-used this soil to create a berm around the base of the garden. This is to help prevent floodwater from migrating to parts of the garden that the client would prefer that it wouldn’t.
Retaining walls, 25 tonnes of reinforced concrete and soakaways were an essential element of the groundworks. All said this project had a combined material weight of over 200 tonnes.
Millboard Swimspa Decking Terrace
The clients chose to use Millboard® decking; A hand moulded wood replica board in the Enhanced Grain pattern and in the Limed Oak colour. This is a modern-looking reduced slip composite decking… it is very popular as it needs very little maintenance.
With regular pool maintenance needed, there are multiple inspection hatches. These make it quick and simple for the pool experts to gain access to the ides of the spa under the decking.
A step down the end of the decking platform onto a lounge area with a fire pit and BBQ… I love clients’ addons…
