Professional Millboard Installer Gerrards Cross. This decking project began when our clients visited their friends for some drinks in their new garden in Beaconsfield. They had recently had Karl and the team install smoked oak Millboard decking. Seeing our precise installation up close made them realise they needed some help in their own garden.
Having had a simple softwood deck built some 20 years ago it was time for an update. You know it’s time to change your decking when it’s rotten and started falling apart. That said, 20 years is good going for softwood decking and shows it was installed correctly in the first place. It is also worth considering the decking location is quite a shaded area of the garden; this can add to the potential for rotting because of moisture and lack of airflow.
How to choose the right decking in your garden
The first port of call was to go for what they liked. A light colour like the Limed Oak in the Enhanced grain. They knew millboard was the decking they wanted but were unsure what colour.
Karl did an initial site survey and took a full set of Millboard samples.
Karl suggested. “If they had a modern finish in a light colour it would look like a stage in the planting beds of their garden. May I suggest we go for a softer and more natural approach”.
A chat and a shuffle of the samples and a quick decision was made. Weathered Oak Vintage colour was the perfect solution.
Karl allowed for making the entire substructure from recycled plastic joists and posts. This ensures the decking won’t ever be susceptible to rotting. As well as that Millboard installed by an approved installer, like ourselves, will also give you a lifetime warranty of 25 years.
How long does it take to install decking?
This project start to finish took 1 day including removing the existing decking. The total area is approx. 9 square metres. We also installed matching fascia boards from the Millboard range to finish the raised sides of the deck. This stops anything getting underneath the decking and gives a complete finish.
