Replacing a garden decking terrace
Raised Millboard Decking in Windsor. How do you know when your decking needs replacing? In this instance, our clients knew when they first moved in that the decking looked a little ropy. They took a step out onto the decking to have their foot go straight through it. Ouch… They have young children and a dog that need access to the garden regularly. With the decking starting at the back door this needed replacing quickly so they can use the garden as much as possible. The old decking didn’t have a balustrade which at this height is really a must regardless. In search of expert advice, they found The Decking Network online.
The Decking Network for advice
Through the network, they came across Karl Harrison Landscapes Ltd and gave Karl a call. He swiftly arranged a site visit so he could survey the area in order to advise on the best course of action and put an accurate quotation together. He also left them with a range of composite decking samples that would all meet their requirements – Safe, Non-slip and easy to maintain. They decided Millboard was the best solution for them. Karl Harrison Landscapes Ltd are professional approved installers for Millboard and have been for 15 years.
Quotations for decking replacement
Once the quotation was agreed this project start to finish took 5 days to remove the old decking, install the new decking and install the custom Accoya ® balustrade. We used recycled plastic posts too, this deck won’t be going anywhere for a long time. The Millboard decking also has a 25-year warranty because it’s installed by an approved installer.
We went the extra mile on this project and used UseClass 4 treated joists, this warranties the structure for a minimum period of 15 years against rotting.
Bespoke Accoya Balustrade
Karl wanted to do something special for the balustrade.
He said “ Accoya is probably the best timber for any balustrade, its inert, doesn’t move and it cant rot… not for 50 years in any case. The RAL 7044 was a sensible colour, light and balances well against the decking”.
By using the stainless steel cable this made sure this was safe without closing the space in too much. The minimal fixings designed by Sta-Lok ® are brilliant in small sections like this.
The immediate garden terrace is now more secluded, from which you can admire the well-planted garden.
