Creative, Charred Accoya Cladding
Bold, Brave, Brilliant and absolutely Beautiful… Clear Architects have set the bar at a staggering height with this project; featuring charred Accoya cladding. The design captures the very essence it set out to, juxtaposing the 130-year-old property it sits next to and a legacy of modern architecture.
Samples were created and presented. Once received had an overwhelming welcome by the planning committee. This project stamps a first for such a complex cladding arrangement in the UK.
The specialist profiled cladding is 44mm thick; with each of the profiles in multiple and different angles. Each piece of the cladding had its own design, it’s pride and its place. Set out and spaced to millimetre perfection with the black tip fixings.
Cladding Installation
Karl Harrison Landscapes created this installation by working with the material manufacturer. The aluminium framework initiated the facade framework. This is because Nvelope® 6 set these parameters and the team at Karl Harrison Landscapes installed them. The aluminium coated insulation fitted with precision between the aluminium rail system, this was prior to the Use Class 3 treated timber battens. The cladding was the finishing element to this landmark cladding project. Treated with specialist oils created specifically for this use by Owatrol.
Karl said “I’ve not seen anything like this before, it really set the bar high in terms of Architectural cladding, the building is beautiful”
The cladding was created in a collaboration between Clear Architects and Karl Harrison. Furthermore, a complex manufacturing process is required. This is because the arrangement of the timber made for a slow process due to the many different angles. Nevertheless, the cladding produced a first-class finish. Shou Sugi Ban™ Cladding materials for this project have been supplied by Exterior Solutions Ltd.
Further, the cladding spanned an impressive area in excess of 600 sqm the project did take some time. Accuracy was the key; because of the bespoke nature of this project allowed no room for rushing. The finish couldn’t be compromised no matter what.
Project Management
Regular site meetings between Karl Harrison Landscapes and the Architect ensured an efficient project. There were also many additional works undertaken by Karl Harrison Landscapes, the main contractor had the works schedule and as Karl Harrison Landscapes had the ability, why not.
Furthermore, Karl Harrison Landscapes has a substantial cladding portfolio, this sits within a well-established history of professional Garden Design and Landscaping. Karl Harrison Landscapes are a team of capable tradesmen with experience; with them, your project is in the hands of people who care.
