This prime residence fronts directly onto Cottage Place in Kensington, London. A truly stunning location that desires something spectacular on the terrace gardens.
The Materials Palette
The building is perfectly detailed, with a smart balance of textures and finishes. The materials are subtle and exact with absolute consideration for the property. Bespoke bricks and detailed bronze balustrade with matching custom made bronze lift out hatch mechanisms. Precision and accurate detailing was crucial here. Then of course the decking needed to be something quite special… We installed 36mm thickness Elondo (Also known as African Oak) with secret hidden stainless steel fixings.
The Decking and Maintenance
The decking offers a very natural aesthetic that can be maintained on a yearly basis with Owatrol products. It can also be left to naturally go grey; this would take approximately 1-2 years from installation. Whichever look the client chooses the accompanying materials will always suit. Even if the decking was left to go grey and the client wanted this reversed that is all achievable by using Owatrol decking products. As the Elondo decking is 36mm thick you could retreat or sand it many times for years to come; in comparison, often hardwood decking is 21mm thickness.
This is a simple terrace created with a selection of the best materials. All are installed by expert craftsmen that care about precision and accuracy. On this project, less is certainly more when it comes to materials used. As a result, keeping it simple has given the clients a beautiful terrace to match its location.
