Commercial charred cladding installation
Enhanced grain is the timber finish that normally catches the eye. Pre-weathered in a contemporary finish, light grey, sharp edges and millimetre perfect installation… cladding is evolving and it starts right here.
The project intention was for a jet black modernist cladding. However, the planner convinced the Architect to consider a subtler finish. A consideration for natural timber, first discussed but as this style of cladding would go grey eventually it was decided to use a solid grey coloured Kebony®.
Kebony specialist grey cladding
The grey enhanced grain cladding finish gave a clever dynamic to the building, further it works well with the aluminium flashings. We also selected colours from the same RAL palette. It’s because of this the fascia’s contrasted with the cladding and with the reflective statement of the glazing. Further, the aluminium was RAL 7016 gloss finish, horizontal and vertical metal work which included the balcony platform.
The Structural Engineer specified SFS Intec 185mm hidden head screws. These specialist fixings are needed because of the weight of this complex timber façade.
The cladding is acting as a second layer because the primary layer has Medite Tricoya Extreme panels at 15mm. Owatrol Aquadeks in “Old Wood Grey” is a proven oil for this application. Shou Sugi Ban™ Cladding materials for this project have been supplied by Exterior Solutions Ltd.
Internal cladding and balcony decking
Exterpark Magnet decking was a key choice for this project. Kebony Radiata installed with Pedestals and Exterpark aluminium joists makes for a sensible decking build up. The timber planks are then fixed with the invisible clips for the Exterpark Magnet system.
We used Kebony in the Exterpark Magnet system for cladding making for a fast installation.
